Highlights
► A simple fast procedure from two centric diatoms was developed. ► PSI complexes have a high transport activity. ► A red lineage Chla/b-binding-like protein (RedCAP) was found. ► Two types of fucoxanthin-chlorophyll-binding proteins I in diatom PSI is proposed.
